How to add the SPF and DKIM via Namecheap

 

In this video we will guide you through the process of adding SPF and DKIM records to your domain using Namecheap. These essential records are crucial for improving the security and credibility of your email communications. By following these steps, you will enhance your email deliverability and protect your domain from unauthorized use. Let's begin this straightforward process together!
 

Step 1: Accessing Mailvio

  • Log in to your Mailvio account.
  • From the Dashboard, click on the profile icon in the top right corner.
  • It will reveal a drop-down menu, select "Integrations" from the available options.
  • Once in the Integrations section, click "My Domains".
  • You will now have access to your domain settings where you can proceed with adding SPF and DKIM records.

Step 2: Verify Your Sending Domain

  • Before adding the SPF and DKIM records, ensure that your sending domain is verified.
  • If your sending domain is already verified, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Access Authentication Records

  • Click on the "Authenticate" button to access the SPF and DKIM records.

Step 4: Adding DKIM Records

  • Log into your hosting account or access your domain settings.
  • Look for an option to add DNS records, which may be in the app.
  • Navigate to the "Advanced DNS" or an equivalent section.
  • Click on "Add New Record" to create a CNAME record.
  • Host: Copy the host value provided in the authentication records.
  • Value: Paste the value provided in the authentication records.
  • TTL (Time to Live): Set the lowest value possible or choose "Automatic."
  • Save the new CNAME record.

Step 5: Adding SPF Records

  • Create a TXT record for the SPF record.
  • Choose an option to add a TXT or SPF record, such as "Add TXT Record" or "Add SPF Record."
  • Enter the following details:
  • Host: Use an "@" symbol or the actual domain name for the root domain (e.g., mail.example.com).
  • Value: Copy and paste the value provided in the authentication records.
  • TTL: Set a TTL of one minute.
  • Save the new TXT or SPF record.

Step 6: Wait for Confirmation

  • SPF and DKIM records may take 1-2 hours to confirm, but it can take up to 24 hours in some cases.
  • Check the authentication status periodically.
  • If the records haven't resolved after a few hours, wait up to 24 hours before checking again.

Step 7: Verify Record Status

  • Authenticate the records by clicking on the "Authenticate" button.
  • Check for any error messages.
  • The DKIM and SPF records should show as authenticated once they have resolved.
  • The "Verified" status will change to "Authenticated" with check marks.

Step 8: Proceed with Other Records

  • Once the SPF and DKIM records are authenticated, you can proceed to add other necessary records.
  • Consider adding custom MX, Tracking, and CDN records based on your requirements.

Step 9: Confirm Record Status

  • After adding additional records, verify their status and ensure they are set correctly.
  • The "Authenticated" status with two check marks confirms that the records are set correctly.
